You're getting a commercial quality blender for your home with the Vitamix 4500 blender. It is a top quality blender, super powerful, and one of the best you'll find on the market. However, it is also one of the most expensive. The old saying, "You get what you pay for," certainly applies here. At around $400 USD, you are getting a 2 horsepower engine, a 5 year warranty, top quality, and the Vitamix name, along with their customer service and generally high reputation.

The only thing keeping us from giving this blender five stars is the cost. However, since this is the "older" Vitamix (they have recently come out with the Vitamix 5200 series), you can likely start to find some real bargains on the 4500. As the price starts to dip down, this blender definitely moves into five star range. We highly recommend it.

There is only one model of the Vitamix 4500. Please note though, the 4500 is an older model, yet it is still very high quality and you can find it on sale many places. Vitamix has since come out with the Vitamix 5200 and Super 5200, which have several upgrades. We'll have a review of these models soon.

Features

Featuring one of the most powerful engines on the market, 2 horsepower, the Vita Mix 4500 blender will thoroughly blend even the most toughest ingredients. The engine is designed to run cool and efficiently, so you won't have to worry about it overheating or sounding like it can't make it. This Vitamix can generate speeds of over 200 mph in its stainless steel blades by using specially sealed ball bearings. You won't see any unblended pieces of food with this monster.

The 64 ounce polycarbonate jar container is made from specialized material that makes it nearly unbreakable. It is more chemical resistant and has no potentially harmful BPA. The container also has measuring marks, a lid that locks into place and won't spill, and a plunger.

The front panel of the blender is easy to clean and has switches that are moisture resistant. There are two speeds with this model, and a simple on-off switch.

The entire model has a 5 year warranty, which is significantly longer than most blenders on the market.

The Vitamix 4500 also comes with a recipe book that has over 150 recipes listed out step by step.

Everyone loves the powerful motor, especially if they've just upgraded from a less powerful blender. It can blend everything, including items like fully frozen bananas. In reference to the price tag, many felt that it was justified because blending times were cut down, and they were able to blend more types of things than they would be able to with a standard blender. Also, since they expect the blender to last longer than most, the cost spread out over time is really not that bad.

Several reviewers like the simple controls and feel that the machine is less likely to break down with fewer buttons. They also say cleaning is a snap, you just run the blender 30 seconds or so with some water and detergent to clean the inside. The outside just wipes down if you accidently spill anything there.
