Oster Blender Model 5900

by Rebecca
(jersey city, nj, usa)

I have owned the Oster blender model 5900 for the past 3 years. The blender's performance is pretty good from my experience. The jar provides quantity information on it which is very helpful when making milkshakes for my family. Initially when I bought the blender I was new to cooking & this blender was a perfect fit for me with its quantity measurements on it. It helped me to make exact proportions I needed without having to waste or store in fridge ( esp milkshake, juices).

I just love the mini jar that came along with this blender. I can blend small quantities of coffee beans & spices without having to use the big jar. I love to grind fresh spices to add to dishes and this mini jar is a perfect fit for that task. After blending I can detach the blades, close the lid & store it, thus it acts like a small container.

The only problem I had was with food processor jar. Initially when I bought this blender I blended few cardamom in food processor jar unknowingly & the jar just cracked. I was really disappointed by this, though it was my mistake to blend in food processor jar. But I didn't expect it to crack. Maybe the plastic was of poor quality. I even tried to contact Oster but I didn't have any luck.

After this I was a little skeptical about this product & was planning on getting a new one. But I just started using the other jars & fell in love with this blender. The jar blades are very sharp and they have had an awesome performance up until now. One has to be very careful while washing them. Never wash the jar with the blades still on it. Always detach them & clean the jars separate.

Overall this blender was good choice at a smart price. If I need to buy a blender in the future it will be an Oster.
