Oster 16 Speed Model #6844

When buying a blender I found that the Oster Blender model #6844 had many features I found desirable. I have now been using it for almost a year and have not been disappointed. Conversely it has very few draw backs, and none I have found that deal with the actual functionality of the blender.

First and foremost in features is the all glass container; even the handle is glass. I love that this is all dishwasher safe, even the blades. Its sturdy and scratch resistant. It has 5 cups, which is a nice size for my large family. I love that the base comes in red, which matches perfectly with our kitchen décor. Even after owning this for almost a year the base is still shiny red and has not dulled at all. To connect the base to the container is a simple metal post, not some 't' shaped fitting that's difficult to get on just right. The lid features a built in measuring cup, with 1 and 2 oz markings. It fits well and is made of flexible material, unlike some hard plastic ones I have had in the past that can warp and not fit tightly.

It has a low and high setting as well as 16 speeds. I got this primarily for the ice crushing setting. When you make a lot of smoothies you will wear down the blades on your blender quickly. Almost a year later and it's still crushing ice like it did the first day. Of course the other settings are also good for making anything from mixed drinks to salsa.

I wish that this was made in the USA, but it is mostly made in or assembled in Mexico. I have not found one thing to complain about with this blender. All the features make this blender very easy to use, its pretty sitting on the counter and its lasted a long time, as far as blenders go.
