My Kids' After-School Smoothie Fun

by Linda Jean
(Pennsylvania)

This is a fun smoothie recipe that not only takes care of your kids hunger after school, but also takes care of their boredom and extra energy. They also learn some useful cooking skills and will appreciate mom’s work a bit more.

1) Take 2 kids, home from school and a bit bored and hungry.

2) Let them at the fruit and stuff they like and allow them to "play" with the blender... My kids' favorite involves peanut butter and chocolate.

3) Put 2 bananas and 1 apple (cut up with core removed) in the blender. Add 2 tablespoons peanut butter. Pulse then whirl with 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt, 1 1/2 cups milk and 4 ice cubes.

4) Pour into glasses, top each glass with a spoonful of mini chocolate chips. Parental supervision required so that each glass doesn't get more chocolate chips than it has smoothie!
