How To Make A Smoothie In A Blender

We teach you how to make a smoothie in a blender in a few simple steps that can be customized for just about any smoothie recipe. It is easy and healthy!

If you have the right blender, one that crushes ice and properly purees a few foods together, and is able to produce a wonderful frosty drink, you can learn how to make a smoothie in a blender. And yes, a smoothie is good for you, too.

You Can Choose From A Variety Of Ingredients

The basic ingredients will be frozen fruit, liquid and yogurt. There are no exact measurements, so you can experiment and make your own delicious smoothie to suit your own tastes. You can also try mixing different fruits, frozen or fresh, and yogurt flavors. If you use vanilla yogurt, you will concoct some really wonderful, sweet and healthy drinks. For chocolate lovers, adding melted chocolate or chocolate syrup is another option for you. Then, of course, there is peach, and pineapple, raspberry and banana. The choices and tastes are endless. They are only limited by your own imagination.

Putting It All Together

  1. So, let us start out with two cups of frozen fruit.

  2. Then you will need three quarters of a cup of liquid. You can use the juices from the fruit, whether they are fresh or from a can, for more sweetness. Or if you want something creamier, you can try some milk.

  3. Then add a half cup of yogurt.

  4. If you are not using frozen fruit, you will need to add ice that gets crushed into the smoothie.

  5. Load up the blender with the ingredients above and puree everything. You might want to pulse it a bit in the beginning to see that everything is being blended nicely.

  6. And for extra fun, you can add things like coconut flakes, or cocoa powder. For something healthier, you might try adding wheat germ, or honey. Peanut butter or certain types of cereals crumbled up will add some unique flavors as well. You can also add chocolate chips, colored sprinkles, or nuts. Just use your imagination and experiment a bit. It will be fun.

Of course, instead of a blender, you can use a food processor to mix everything up. Even an electric chopper will do the trick in a pinch, for a smaller drink.

You can make a smoothie for any meal, especially breakfast. They also make great in-between meal snacks and are of course a great dessert or cooler for those hot, summer days.

A Breakfast Smoothie Treat

Here is an idea for a healthy breakfast smoothie. You will need one cup of ice, a half cup of frozen orange juice concentrate, a cup of vanilla soy milk, one small banana, one half cup of vanilla yogurt, and a tablespoon of honey. First put some ice in the bottom of the blender. Add all of the ingredients and puree it until it is smooth. What a great way to start the day!

You will also enjoy the fact that you can control your calories this way. If you use all healthy ingredients, the amount of calories and fat, cholesterol and carbs will be kept to a minimum. There will be protein, vitamin A and C, and calcium, as well, depending of course on your exact ingredients.

Just try different things and different tastes and you will soon master how to make a smoothie in a blender.
