Homemade Ice Cream Is A Delicious Treat
You Can Make Easily In A Blender

Homemade ice cream is one of the most fun and exciting things you can make in a blender. This delicious frozen treat can be made in an endless array of flavors.

Home made ice cream was invented around 200 BC by the Chinese where dynasty rulers enjoyed it in their palaces. Well I guess in that case it would have been called "palace-made" ice cream. There are stories throughout history of famous people such as the Roman Emperor Nero and Marco Polo eating frozen drinks. Nero would have his slaves run up to the mountains to bring him ice to freeze his drinks. (Kinda makes you feel lucky that you can get ice by just popping a glass under the auto ice maker built into your fridge.)

It wasn't until the mid-1800's that ice cream became available to the general public with the invention of the hand crank freezer. You can still buy hand crank ice cream makers today - it's basically a manual blender attacked to a wood barrel and it'll not only make ice cream, but give you a good arm workout too!

Big-time commercial manufacturing of ice cream started in the 1920's with the invention of the continuous process freezer. The popularity of ice cream continued to grow as more flavors became available in the 1930's.

Today we're lucky to be able to just pick up ice cream at the store, or more ideally you can make your own ice cream at home. By making your own you can create home made ice cream which is healthier, and tastes better than the store bought kind, and making it can be lots of fun.

Instead of eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's after a long day of working or lugging the kids to practice, why not blend up some ice cream of your own. Did you know you can use just about any "edible" ingredient in ice cream? In certain countries they even offer fish ice cream. I hear it's a delicacy.
