The 600XL has a digital LCD display, the 550XL does not. All other features are the same. The 600XL costs about $50 more than the 550KL.
Features
The Breville Ikon blender features a 750 watt engine with 5 speed settings that include chop, blend, mix, puree, and liquefy. It also has 2 preset programs for blending smoothies and crushing ice, as well as a pulse function. The smoothie button varies speed during the blending process to create the perfect smoothie and shuts off automatically when it's done. The control panel is clean and flat and designed with no crevices, which makes it very easy to clean. It has a backlit digital timer, which tells you how long before blending is completed on the preset options.
The glass jar is 51 ounces (1.5L) and is dishwasher safe, chipping, fogging, and scratch resistant. Easy to read measurements are etched into the side.

GoBlendIt Consumer Reviews Summary
Summary of the most helpful positive reviews:
Owners like the power of the Breville Ikon and the separate smoothie button. They also liked that the design and shape of the container and the curved blades created a tunnel so that the entire mixture gets blended, with no food stuck in the bottom.
Reviewers also mention that the blender is one of the quietest they have heard. They also say that it is very stable, even when blending on high settings.
Also mentioned was how tight the base and assembly fit together. Certain owners who had just purchased the product felt that it would be less likely to leak in the future due to the tight seal.
Summary of the most helpful negative reviews:
Most of the reported problems with the engine and blades seem to happen about a year out. Owners report some deterioration and decline in motor power around this time, as well as motor failure.
Leaking was also a problem. It seems that despite the tight fitting of the base and assembly, that there was still leaking the longer the blender was used. Most people that had this issue weren't able to get the parts put back together and aligned properly.
Others talked about how difficult the Breville Ikon is to clean; that food gets stuck in areas around the bottom of the jar and in parts around the bottom gasket and blades. Because it takes a crank tool to remove all the mechanisms, it can be very hard to clean and get food out of this part.
Owners that had problems also talked about how poor customer service is at Breville, that you have to wait on hold to leave a message and they call you back in the next couple of days.
