The 3 series Braun hand blender Multiquick has a 450 watt motor, and the 5 and 7 series both have 600 watt motors. (These wattages are for units sold outside of the US. In the US, only the 5 series is sold at 400 watts.) The 3 has 2 speeds and the 5 and 7 both have 15 speeds plus a turbo speed option. The detachable shaft on the 3 is plastic, on the 5 and 7 its stainless steel. The top level 5 models comes with a stainless steel whisk and inserts which include a chopping tool, an extra coarse slicing insert, a Julienne oblong and triangular insert, and a kneading hook. It also has a chopper, ice crusher, and jug blender (1,000ml), and two separate choppers (500ml and 350ml), and a fresh sealing system to keep foods fresher longer.
Within each series (this gets complicated) are several models. The 3 series offers the MR 320 Omelette, MR 320 Pasta, and MR 300 Soup. The Multiquick 5 series has the MR 570 Patisserie, MR 550 Buffet, MR 540 Aperitive, and MR 560 Fresh. The Multiquick 7 series has the MR 730 and the MR 700.
Without going into too much detail, basically each model in each series offers variations on attachments and is more specialized for different tasks, as you can sometimes tell from the name. The motor and speeds are the same for each series.
This review covers one of the most popular models, the MR 550, which has very good reviews and offers most of the essential features for some of the most common kitchen tasks that you would use a hand blender for. In the features section below we list the attachments that come with this model.
Features
The Braun Multiquick hand blender MR 550 comes with a 400 watt motor (US), and 15 speed options. There is also a turbo button which ramps up the power to the max immediately with one push.
It comes with a variety of dishwasher safe attachments including a stainless steel blending shaft, a stainless steel whisk for whisking cream, egg whites, and desserts just like a hand mixer , and a large 40 ounce sized chopper which can be used for harder ingredients like cheese, or herbs, and a beaker. The Multiquick has a unique anti-splashing design and a comfortable soft grip.
